First Day of Grade 2!

We had a wonderful first day at school today! We met lots of new friends and are excited for the year ahead.

Please make sure your child has indoor shoes that are LABELED with their first and last name for school this week.

I ask that you please send your child with a healthy snack like fruit, vegetables, yogurt, crackers and cheese etc and not a sugary item as we eat snack between 9:30-10:00am each day. Sugar makes it hard for brains to learn and focus! One snack item is perfect for Grade 2 :)

There is a meet the teacher night on Thursday from 5:00-6:00pm. I am looking forward to meeting all of the parents and guardians then!

Warm Feet for the Street Campaign

Hi everyone,  I have had some of you ask about the Warm Feet for the Street Campaign that the Ambassador Club students are organizing and that all grade 4 classes are participating in. If you would like to make a donation we would love to take it. We are accepting donations until Dec. 13 so that the students in the Ambassador Club have time to stuff the socks. We have had a generous parent donate approximately 90 pairs of socks so we are needing stuff to put in them. Please click on the link for items the Mustard Seed accepts for this campaign and items they don’t accept. Thank you in advance for your continued support of our initiatives. This is a great way for our students to give back to our larger community and provide some warmth for those less fortunate this holiday season.   Here is the link should you wish more information as well as a wish list for donations: http://www.theseed.ca/assets/files/pdf/christmas_project/Warm%20Feet.pdf Thanks,  The ...

Ones & Tens

Today in math we explored the idea behind ones and tens. We talked about how many ones can actually go in the ones place (no more than 9!) and why we have to change them out to the tens when it becomes 10. We practiced creating numbers to 50 today using the ones and tens blocks. Check out some of our work!  Making the number 10 Making the number 17 Making 22

Math Practice - Growing Patterns

We have been learning about growing patterns for the last 3 weeks. We still need some SERIOUS practice. Please practice growing patterns using the pictures below. We have done these all before in class so they should be familiar :)
